When Windows shows SmartScreen
Castforge is a new app and Windows SmartScreen builds reputation over the first 30-60 days of installs. While reputation builds, you may see a blue "Windows protected your PC" dialog the first time you run the installer.
Here's what to do:
- Click More info in the blue dialog.
- Click Run anyway.
- Castforge installs as normal. The dialog will not appear again on this machine.
The publisher on that dialog reads 9569-2893 Québec Inc.That is Castforge's registered company name in Quebec, not a third party.
Want to verify the binary yourself? Open PowerShell and run:
signtool verify /pa /v Castforge_x64-setup.exe
The cert chain is signed by 9569-2893 Québec Inc. via Azure Artifact Signing. The full signing story lives at /legal/security.
What gets installed
The Castforge installer is a standard Windows installer. It installs to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Castforge (no administrator rights required) and writes its local data (project history, preferences, sign-in session) under %APPDATA%\Castforge. Auto-updates are handled in-app, Castforge checks for new versions on launch and prompts you before downloading. To uninstall, use the standard Windows path: Settings → Apps → Castforge → Uninstall.
Older versions and changelog
Release notes for every version are on the changelog. If you need to roll back to an older signed build, ask in Discord and we will point you at it.
